Kwara Camp is set within the private Kwara Concession, which shares a boundary with the renowned Moremi Game Reserve. This vast wilderness spans a range of habitats—from permanent lagoon channels and papyrus-fringed waterways to open floodplains, mopane woodlands and dry scrub savanna. The result is a dynamic environment that offers exceptional wildlife viewing year-round, with a strong emphasis on water-based safari experiences.

The camp accommodates guests in nine en suite safari tents, each constructed on raised teak decks overlooking the expansive floodplains. These tents are spacious and thoughtfully designed, with indoor and outdoor seating and sweeping views of the surrounding Delta. The honeymoon suite includes a more luxurious bathroom with a romantic antique ball-and-claw bathtub, perfect for couples seeking a special touch.

The main thatched lodge is slightly elevated and commands panoramic views of the lagoon. The open-plan lounge invites guests to relax and observe passing wildlife, while the adjacent open-sided dining area makes mealtimes a scenic affair. A plunge pool with surrounding sun loungers provides a cooling retreat during the heat of the day. At dusk, guests gather around the firepit in the sandy boma, enjoying drinks under the stars and the soundtrack of the Delta’s nocturnal wildlife.

  • Nine en suite tents on raised decks with private viewing areas
  • Main lodge with lagoon-facing lounge and dining areas
  • Honeymoon suite with claw-foot bath

ACTIVITIES

Kwara Camp offers a wide range of land and water-based activities throughout the year. Guests can enjoy traditional mokoro excursions, drifting silently through the Delta’s crystal-clear channels and papyrus-fringed lagoons. These water safaris provide intimate encounters with aquatic wildlife and birds, particularly in the early mornings. Guided bush walks are also available, offering a chance to examine animal tracks, plants and the smaller details of this complex ecosystem.

Game drives take place in the early mornings, late afternoons and after dark. Kwara’s private concession status means off-road driving is permitted, enhancing the quality of predator sightings. The area supports a wide range of species, including lion, leopard, cheetah, wild dog, elephant, hippo, lechwe, sitatunga, sable, roan, buffalo, and numerous antelope species.

Guests also have the unique opportunity to visit the famous Godikwe Lagoon, best known for its seasonal heronry. Between September and March, the trees are filled with thousands of nesting herons, storks, spoonbills and other waterbirds. The camp’s custom-built double-decker boat provides elevated views and outstanding photography opportunities without disturbing the birds. Fishing is also offered on a catch-and-release basis during appropriate water levels.
