Little Vumbura Camp
Little Vumbura is tucked away on a remote island in the private Vumbura Concession in the northern Okavango Delta. Surrounded by floodplains, reed beds and deep-water channels, this intimate camp blends seamlessly into its lush, tropical setting beneath a canopy of ebony, fig, knobthorn and marula trees. While it shares the same exceptional game-viewing territory as its larger sister camp, Vumbura Plains, Little Vumbura offers a quieter, more secluded Delta experience.
The camp accommodates guests in six spacious tented suites built on low wooden platforms and connected by sandy paths beneath the trees. Each tent features en suite facilities and an outdoor shower for a refreshing experience under the open sky. The tents are shaded by the forest canopy and designed to make the most of the surrounding wilderness, with large gauze windows and private verandas offering immersive views of the Delta.
Little Vumbura’s main lodge is accessed via a wooden walkway leading to a shaded lounge and bar area with comfortable seating and sofas. The dining area, located under a canopy of trees, is open-air and relaxed, providing views across the Delta’s winding channels. A star deck and firepit are connected by a small bridge, offering a perfect setting for stargazing or a nightcap beside the flames. There is also a plunge pool and sun deck with loungers overlooking the reeds, and a small library offers a quiet retreat with scenic views.
Facilities at Little Vumbura include:
- 6 tented suites with en suite bathrooms and outdoor showers
- Lounge and open-air dining area beneath a shady tree canopy
- Plunge pool with sundeck and shaded seating
- Star deck and firepit overlooking the floodplains
- Library with water views and comfortable loungers
- Wooden walkways connecting rooms to the central camp area
Why choose Little Vumbura?
- Secluded island setting in the heart of the Okavango Delta
- Offers both land and water-based safari activities
- Rich biodiversity and excellent predator sightings
- Exceptional birdwatching in diverse habitats
- Intimate camp atmosphere with only six guest tents

ACTIVITIES
Little Vumbura offers a superb mix of water and land-based safari activities, taking full advantage of its position among the permanent channels and seasonally flooded plains of the northern Delta. Guests can explore the reed-lined waterways by mokoro, gliding silently past frogs, water lilies and rare aquatic birds, or venture out by motorboat into the deeper channels in search of hippos, elephants and crocodiles.
Land-based activities include morning and afternoon game drives in open 4×4 vehicles. A short boat ride connects the island to the vehicle pick-up point, adding an extra layer of adventure to each outing. Game drives frequently yield sightings of lion, leopard, cheetah, elephant, giraffe, wild dog, sable antelope and large herds of buffalo. Red lechwe, kudu, impala and waterbuck are common, and the area is known for its predator-prey interactions, particularly involving the resident lion prides and packs of wild dogs.
Night drives are offered when water levels allow, providing an opportunity to view nocturnal wildlife such as civets, genets and owls. Guided walks with experienced guides are also available, offering a closer look at the Delta’s plant life and smaller inhabitants.
Birdwatching at Little Vumbura is outstanding, with an impressive diversity of habitats attracting a wide array of species. From the elusive Pel’s fishing owl and slaty egret to colorful bee-eaters and kingfishers, the concession is a birder’s paradise all year round.
