Sitatunga Private Island
Sitatunga Private Island is an exclusive water-based safari retreat set within the remote NG32 Concession in Botswana’s Okavango Delta. Elevated above the floodplains and surrounded by misty channels and pale forested islands, the camp is perfectly integrated into its natural surroundings. Intimate and luxurious, Sitatunga Private Island offers a secluded escape for travellers looking to experience the quiet magic of the Delta from the water’s edge.
The camp accommodates just eight guests in two expansive tented suites and one two-bedroom Sitatunga Private Island Suite, making it ideal for families or small private groups. Each suite features an en suite bathroom, a private lounge, an outdoor seating area, a private plunge pool, and a shaded verandah overlooking the floodplain. Interiors are thoughtfully decorated in soft, earthy tones that mirror the misty greens and creams of the surrounding Delta vegetation.
The main lodge area, raised on wooden walkways, includes a communal dining space, a cosy lounge, and a firepit for evenings under the stars. With open views across the water and intimate design, the camp offers guests a sense of immersion in nature without sacrificing comfort or style.

ACTIVITIES
Sitatunga Private Island offers a tranquil exploration of the Okavango Delta’s watery wilderness. The camp is focused entirely on water-based activities, offering guests the opportunity to explore the intricate network of reed-fringed channels by mokoro or motorboat. The mokoro excursions—guided journeys in traditional dugout canoes—allow guests to move silently through the shallow floodplains, coming close to aquatic species and the abundant birdlife that thrive in this unique ecosystem.
Walking safaris on the island provide a slower, more grounded perspective of the Delta, guided by expert trackers who interpret animal signs and share insights into the region’s flora and fauna. The area is one of the few remaining strongholds of the rare and secretive sitatunga antelope, often visible from camp or while boating. Elephants, hippos and crocodiles are also frequently seen moving through the waterways.
Birdwatching is exceptional, with the area supporting a wide range of species attracted to the islands and wetlands. Seasonal catch-and-release fishing is also offered when water levels allow. For photography enthusiasts, the Sitatunga Private Island Suite includes a dedicated photography setup with camera, lenses and binoculars, with images downloaded to a USB at the end of the stay.
