Itinerary
Day 1-3
From Maun Airport, guests will be met and assisted with a connection onto a light aircraft flight to a breathtaking Eagle Island Lodge for a 3 stay on fully inclusive basis.
Eagle Island Lodge is situated on the island of Xaxaba and surrounded by Illala Palms, Eagle Island Lodge overlooks a lagoon fed by the tranquil waterways of the Okavango Delta. This area offers high quality wildlife viewing with prolific birdlife and mammal sightings. Well known at the Eagle Island Lodge is the romantic Fish Eagle Bar, where guests can enjoy a drink or dinner while enjoying a spectacular sunset over the African wilderness. During the months of April through October, Eagle Island Lodge offers a choice of game viewing by mokoro (traditional dugout canoe), motorized boats and sundowner barges to the surrounding lagoons. When water levels are low (December through March), morning, afternoon and evening game drives are offered in open 4×4 vehicles. Guided safari walks are offered all year around on the surrounding islands. The main fish species is Tilapia, commonly known as bream in Botswana. Fresh water pike and cat fish are also common in the Delta. Basic rods and reels are available in the lodge. Please note Eagle Island practices fishing strictly on a ‘catch and release’ basis.
Day 4-6
Today after morning activity and light breakfast, time permitting, guests will check out of the lodge for a connection flight to Savute airstrip where they will be met and transferred by road to Savute Elephant Lodge where they will stay for 3 nights on fully inclusive basis.
Savute Elephant Lodge is located along the banks of the dry Savuti Channel, an area that is characterised by sweeping expanses of savannah grasses and rocky outcrops and is particularly well-known for its elephants and predators. Savute Elephant Lodge offers a spectacular bird’s eye view of elephant drinking from the water hole just meters away from the main building. Savute Elephant Lodge promises outstanding game viewing without having to leave the confines of the camp itself. Watching the elephants come down to the local waterhole to drink, bathe and play at sunset is one of those iconic African moments. However, Savute Elephant Lodge does offer game drives in the morning and late afternoons, where there are excellent opportunities to see wildlife on the now dry Savuti Marsh, which is also home to the zebra migration during February and October. Guests can also include an excursion to see the historic San rock paintings or the ancient Baobabs.
Day 7
On a final morning of the stay at Savute Elephant Lodge, guests will wake so early in morning to get a light breakfast then go for a morning activity and upon their return, they will be transferred well on time to the Airstrip to connect onto a light aircraft to transfer back to Maun Airport.
