Xugana Island Lodge is ideally located for guests seeking an immersive, water-based safari experience in one of Botswana’s most beautiful and peaceful environments.

ACTIVITIES
Xugana Island Lodge offers a tranquil exploration of the Okavango Delta’s aquatic ecosystem. The camp specialises in mokoro excursions, where guests are poled silently through papyrus-lined channels in traditional-style dugout canoes. These peaceful journeys bring guests close to the Delta’s aquatic wildlife, with opportunities to see sitatunga antelope, red lechwe, and a variety of frogs and aquatic birds.
Guided bush walks on nearby islands offer a different perspective on the Delta, with expert naturalist guides pointing out tracks, plants, insects and birdlife. These walking safaris are tailored to suit all fitness levels and provide a chance to encounter the Delta’s smaller wonders on foot.
Birdwatching is a highlight at Xugana, with the lodge’s wetland location attracting an abundance of species, from malachite and pied kingfishers to African jacanas, darters, and fish eagles. Keen birders may also be rewarded with sightings of rarer species such as the Pel’s fishing owl and slaty egret.
Fishing, offered on a catch-and-release basis, is available seasonally. Guests may try their hand at catching bream or the thrilling tigerfish, with excursions typically arranged in the early morning or late afternoon.
