Chiefs Camp
Named after Chief Moremi of the Batawana tribe, Chief’s Camp is situated on the northeastern tip of the famous Chief’s Island in the Moremi Game Reserve. The floodwaters of the Okavango Delta typically reach this area in June or July and linger for four to five months. Renowned for exceptional game viewing, Chief’s Island is considered one of the best locations in southern Africa to see the Big Five.
Accommodation at Sanctuary Chief’s Camp is offered in 10 spacious bush pavilions, each measuring 140m²—some of the largest in the region. Each pavilion includes a private plunge pool, floor-to-ceiling windows, and sweeping views over the surrounding floodplains. The luxurious en suite bathrooms feature both a large indoor bathtub and a generous outdoor shower. For families or small groups, the Geoffrey Kent Suite provides an exclusive experience with two bedrooms, a private dining area, personal staff, and tailored activities for up to 6 guests.
The camp’s main areas are styled in a contemporary ‘safari chic’ aesthetic. Guests can unwind in the lounge or take a dip in the communal pool, while children enjoy a dedicated playroom. The elevated dining space includes a pizza oven, offering a refined yet relaxed dining experience. An outdoor boma and viewing deck provide scenic vantage points to watch wildlife across the floodplain.

ACTIVITIES
Chief’s Camp offers premier game drives in custom-built open 4×4 vehicles, guided by some of Botswana’s most experienced professional guides. Guests can expect to encounter large concentrations of plains game, as well as elephants, buffalo, and predators including lion, leopard, cheetah, and wild dog.
In high season and when water levels allow, mokoro excursions offer a peaceful and immersive way to explore the Delta’s waterways. These guided trips provide close-up encounters with aquatic bird species and other animals from a unique water-level perspective.
