Duma Tau Camp
Tucked between the Linyanti River and the Savuti Channel in northern Botswana, the Linyanti Wildlife Reserve is a mosaic of woodlands, marshes, and open floodplains that support some of the most concentrated and diverse wildlife in the region. This remote wilderness is famed for its dense elephant populations, thriving predator numbers, and seasonal migrations—all within a largely untouched and private concession.
DumaTau, meaning “roar of the lion” in Setswana, offers an exclusive safari experience in the heart of this untamed landscape. Set under a canopy of mangosteen trees and raised to overlook a tranquil, hippo-filled lagoon, the camp provides front-row views of the surrounding ecosystem while remaining immersed in comfort and calm. Whether tracking lions on game drives or listening to the calls of hippos from your deck, DumaTau brings the African wilderness into every moment of your stay.
Accommodation consists of eight spacious thatched tents and one two-bedroom family suite. Each tent is set on raised wooden platforms with expansive views and designed to maximise both privacy and immersion. Canvas walls invite the night sounds of Africa in, while amenities such as en suite bathrooms, outdoor showers, private salas, and plunge pools provide luxurious space to relax between activities. The family tent offers two bedrooms, each with their own en suite, making it ideal for small groups or families traveling together.
The main lodge is linked to the rooms by winding timber boardwalks and is open-sided to offer 360-degree views of the surrounding lagoon and bush. Here, guests can gather in the lounge or bar, dine beneath the stars, or unwind by the swimming pool during the heat of the day. Evenings are spent around the campfire, sharing stories and listening to the night come alive across the water.
Facilities at DumaTau include:
- Eight tented suites and one family tent, all with private plunge pools
- Canvas walls and thatched roofs for immersive sound and comfort
- Outdoor lounges with salas and separate outdoor showers
- Open-sided main lodge with dining room, bar, and lounge
- Swimming pool and evening campfire deck overlooking the lagoon
Why choose DumaTau?
- Located in the exclusive Linyanti Wildlife Reserve, rich in habitat and game
- Excellent elephant and predator sightings, including wild dogs and lions
- Luxurious tented suites with private outdoor living spaces
- Year-round wildlife viewing with minimal vehicle traffic
- Ideal for couples, families, photographers, and wildlife enthusiasts

ACTIVITIES
DumaTau offers a rich and varied safari program that takes full advantage of the Linyanti region’s ecological diversity. Game drives in open 4×4 vehicles—by day and by night—offer frequent sightings of elephants, lions, leopards, wild dogs, cheetahs, and spotted hyenas. Plains game such as zebra, giraffe, buffalo, impala, and red lechwe are seen year-round, while birdlife flourishes in the riverine environments.
Walking safaris along the Savuti Channel and Linyanti River offer a deeper connection to the landscape, revealing tracks, plants, and the smaller wonders of the bush. Water-based safaris are available when river levels allow, with guided boat excursions offering up-close views of hippos, crocodiles, and waterfowl along the Linyanti waterways.
For keen photographers and quiet wildlife observation, a network of hides and platforms—some tucked deep in the bush, others right at the source of the Savuti—provide ideal vantage points. These secluded spots allow for low-impact viewing of animals as they come to drink and interact, often at very close range.
