Seba Camp
Seba Camp is tucked away in a tranquil riverine forest in the Abu Concession of the Okavango Delta, overlooking a perennial lagoon that teems with birdlife and is frequented by pods of hippos. Named after a young elephant featured in the Walt Disney film Whispers, Seba means “whisper” in the local language and offers a safari experience that balances family-friendly comfort with meaningful wildlife encounters. As the research base for the long-running wild elephant reintegration program, Seba also provides a rare opportunity to witness conservation in action.
The camp comprises 8 elevated canvas tents, each shaded by majestic hardwood trees and positioned to offer privacy and scenic views of the lagoon and floodplains. Each tent is uniquely decorated in tribute to one of Botswana’s tribal cultures and features en suite bathrooms and private wooden decks for peaceful wildlife watching. Two spacious family tents include two en suite bedrooms connected by a central corridor, along with child-friendly amenities such as a plunge pool, treehouse, sandpit, and a well-stocked toy box—perfect for families with younger explorers.
Seba’s central lodge is divided between two open-sided wooden pavilions: one houses a welcoming dining space and the other, a relaxed lounge with a curated library and comfortable seating. The spaces are adorned with handwoven baskets and local artworks. A small swimming pool with sun loungers lies on a raised deck at the rear of the camp, while the heart of the camp is the campfire area, where guests gather each evening beneath the stars to share stories of the day’s adventures.
Facilities at Seba Camp include:
- 8 individually themed canvas tents with en suite bathrooms
- 2 family tents with private plunge pools and child-focused amenities
- Shaded, private decks overlooking the lagoon and floodplains
- Open-air dining area and separate lounge with library
- Swimming pool with sun loungers and umbrellas
- Evening campfire area for relaxing under the stars
Why choose Seba Camp?
- Located in the Abu Concession, one of the Delta’s most ecologically diverse regions
- Home to a long-running wild elephant reintegration research project
- Unique opportunity to observe released elephants and wild herds
- Thoughtfully designed for families with child-focused amenities
- Combines water- and land-based activities in a rich Delta setting

ACTIVITIES
Seba Camp offers an immersive safari experience rooted in both wildlife exploration and elephant conservation. Guests have the unique opportunity to observe the released elephants of the Abu herd as they interact with wild elephants—a compelling natural story that is being closely monitored by researchers from Bristol University. Depending on the herd’s movements, guides will take guests to observe them and learn about the research process in the field.
Game drives take place year-round in open 4×4 vehicles and offer sightings of giraffe, tsessebe, impala, buffalo, lechwe, reedbuck and warthog. Predators such as lions, leopards and cheetahs are also frequently seen. More than 380 species of birds have been recorded in the region, making it a rewarding destination for birders.
When the floodwaters arrive in winter, Seba Camp transforms into a water-based camp. Activities shift to include peaceful mokoro excursions, scenic motorboat cruises and seasonal fishing (on a catch-and-release basis). Walking safaris offer another layer of exploration, highlighting the smaller details of the Okavango ecosystem.
Seba is especially well suited to families with children. Young adventurers receive fun activity packs filled with nature puzzles, colouring books, and magnifying glasses to support their explorations. Guided nature walks around the camp are designed to be engaging and educational for children. A dedicated children’s menu and optional babysitting services ensure that the whole family can relax and enjoy their safari at their own pace.
