Mana Pools National Park

Located in the southern section of the Lower Zambezi and northeast of Lake Kariba and Victoria Falls, Mana Pools National Park is widely regarded as one of Africa’s most scenic and remote wildlife destinations. Renowned for its exceptional walking safaris, Mana Pools also offers one of Southern Africa’s finest canoeing safari experiences. Canoe trails typically follow the Zambezi River from the Kariba Dam through the Kariba Gorge along the national park’s boundary.

Mana Pools is characterised by lush vegetation and dramatic riverine landscapes, attracting an abundance of wildlife throughout the year. Game sightings include wild dog, leopard, cheetah and hyena, along with large herds of buffalo, kudu and zebra. The park is also home to prolific birdlife, making it a haven for birdwatching enthusiasts.

The best time to visit is during the dry season from July to October, when wildlife concentrates along the riverbanks and floodplains. Mana Pools is accessible by boat from Lake Kariba or via road and air transfers to the camps and lodges within the park.
