Okuti Introduces Mokoro Trips
For the first time, guests staying at Okuti Camp in the heart of the renowned Moremi Game Reserve can now enjoy one of Botswana’s most iconic safari experiences—a Mokoro trip.
The Mokoro, a traditional dugout canoe, is an integral part of Botswana’s culture and history. Originally carved from local trees, today’s Mokoros are often made from eco-friendly fiberglass to preserve the environment. Guided by skilled polers, guests glide silently along the tranquil waterways of the Okavango Delta, gaining an entirely new perspective of this extraordinary wilderness.

Why the Moremi Game Reserve is a Must-Visit
Located in the northeastern reaches of the Okavango Delta, the Moremi Game Reserve is one of the most sought-after safari destinations in Africa. Known for its exceptional wildlife and stunning landscapes, Moremi offers a mosaic of habitats—from open floodplains and lagoons to dense woodlands. Visitors flock here year after year to witness thrilling game sightings, including elephants, lions, leopards, and wild dogs. The reserve also boasts some of the best birdwatching in Botswana, with over 400 recorded species.
A New Chapter at Okuti
Adding Mokoro trips to Okuti’s activity list elevates the safari experience, allowing visitors to connect with the Delta’s serene beauty in an intimate, eco-friendly way. As you glide through the reeds, you’ll encounter the smaller wonders of the Delta—colorful frogs clinging to papyrus stalks, iridescent dragonflies darting overhead, and an array of water birds. It’s a safari experience that immerses you in the essence of the Okavango.
This new offering makes Okuti even more special, combining its luxurious accommodation and spectacular wildlife encounters with this timeless and peaceful tradition.
