South Luangwa National Park
South Luangwa National Park, located east of the Luangwa River, is renowned for its diverse ecosystems, including grasslands, wetlands and woodlands, and for its exceptional wildlife. The park is particularly noted for its high concentration of leopards, as well as populations of kudu, giraffe, lion and hyena. The Luangwa River supports large numbers of hippos and crocodiles, creating excellent viewing opportunities along its banks.
Birdlife is abundant, with over 400 recorded species, including yellow-billed storks, sacred ibis and various raptors, making the park a prime destination for bird enthusiasts.
Visitors can enjoy both day and night game drives, as well as expertly guided walking safaris – a signature experience of South Luangwa. The dry season, from June to October, offers the best game viewing, as animals congregate around remaining water sources. While road access is possible, the park is most commonly reached by light aircraft from Lusaka Airport.

Chikunto Safari Lodge

Featuring six spacious thatched chalets, each with plunge pool, private deck, and indoor/outdoor en-suite bathroom, the camp offers tailor-made activities including guided game drives, night safaris, and walking safaris. Meals are crafted from fresh, seasonal produce and served around a lively waterhole.
