Itinerary

Day 1-3

On arrival at Maun International Airport after clearing customs and immigration, guests will be met and assisted with a connection onto a scheduled charter flight to Duba Plains camps where they will stay for 3 nights on fully inclusive basis.

Duba Plains is built on an island in the Okavango Delta, shaded by large ebony, fig and mangosteen trees and surrounded by expansive plains which are seasonally flooded. Duba is highly recommended for guests interested in predator interaction, as it is known for the titanic clashes between buffalo and lions. The activities at Duba Plains Camp concentrate on day and night game drives, guided walks, motorised boating and catch-and-release fishing. Mokoro trips are also possible during good floods – usually only between May and September. This pristine area is home to lions, leopards, lechwe, tsessebe, warthog, elephant and huge herds of buffalo. In addition, the Duba area has productive spotted hyena dens that offer great hyena pup viewing, while aardwolf sightings are one of the specialties of Duba Plains. Birding is excellent at Duba Plains, and most of the Okavango Delta’s renowned birdlife can be found in the area, including swamp boubou, Hartlaub’s babbler and swamp nightjar. At certain times of the year, the abundance of water birds along the flooded areas and water pans is exceptional when a multitude of herons, egrets, lapwings and jacanas are seen.

On this day after morning activity, time permitting,  guests will check out of the camp for flight transfer to Selinda camp where they will stay for 3 nights on fully inclusive basis.

Selinda Camp is built on a shady island overlooking the waters of the Selinda Spillway – a waterway linking Botswana’s Okavango Delta to the Linyanti and Kwando marshes, rivers and floodplains. A small, luxury-tented safari camp, Selinda offers a peaceful and private experience far from the crowds but with unrestrictive and exhilarating wildlife viewing. The Selinda area has game-rich floodplains that host a huge variety of bird life, antelope, zebra, cheetah, wild dog, lion and large concentrations of elephants. Nocturnal species include serval, porcupine, springhare and leopard, and predator viewing is exceptional, including Selinda’s hippo-killing lions, leopard, wild dog and cheetah. Selinda camp offers a choice of boat cruises, catch and release fishing and morning, afternoon and night game drives with experienced, professional guides in custom-built 4×4 Land Cruisers. In addition, short walks, accompanied by a guide, are ideal for closer inspection of the smaller creatures and flora of the reserve. Siesta time can be spent in an elevated hide overlooking a waterway, watching the passing wildlife.

Final day of the safari, guests will check out Selinda camp to connect onto a scheduled flight transfer to Maun airport for onwards travel arrangement, end of safari
