Liuwa Plains National Park
Liuwa Plain National Park, one of Africa’s oldest conservation areas, is a truly remote and rewarding safari destination. Covering 3,660 km² of pristine wilderness in western Zambia, Liuwa is renowned for hosting the second-largest wildebeest migration in Africa. The park’s vast grasslands are also home to large herds of zebra, tsessebe, and red lechwe, as well as predators such as lions, hyenas, wild dogs, and cheetahs. Birdlife is exceptional, with over 350 recorded species, including the rare wattled and crowned cranes.
During the rainy season, beginning around November, the open plains transform into a lush, green expanse, creating breathtaking landscapes and exceptional photographic opportunities. Guests can explore this unique ecosystem on guided walking safaris, game drives, canoeing excursions (water levels permitting), and cultural or conservation tours to nearby villages. Visits may also coincide with the famous Kuomboka traditional ceremony, offering a rare opportunity to witness one of Zambia’s most celebrated cultural events.

King Lewanika Lodge
King Lewanika Lodge is the first permanent camp in Zambia’s remote Liuwa Plain National Park, offering unmatched immersion into vast wilderness. Featuring six tented villas—including one family unit—perched on timber decks with private verandas, it provides access to wildebeest migration, big cat sightings, guided drives, walking safaris, night drives, boating, canoeing, and cultural experiences.
