Kanana Camp
Kanana Camp is set along the Xudum River in the southwestern region of Botswana’s Okavango Delta. Surrounded by palm-fringed islands, ancient fig and ebony trees, and a rich mosaic of seasonal floodplains and permanent channels, this secluded camp offers a truly immersive Delta experience. Its location in a private concession ensures exclusive access to pristine wilderness, ideal for guests seeking a balance of comfort, sustainability, and authentic safari adventure.
The camp accommodates guests in seven spacious thatch-and-canvas safari rooms, including a dedicated two-bedroom family unit. Each room is built on a raised teak deck, offering privacy and sweeping views of the surrounding bush. Interiors are tastefully appointed and feature en suite bathrooms with generous walk-in showers and elegant finishes. Outdoor seating areas invite guests to relax and absorb the sounds and sights of the Delta.
Kanana’s main lodge area offers open-plan communal spaces for dining, lounging and wildlife watching. A sun deck and refreshing swimming pool provide the perfect place to unwind during the heat of the day, while the elevated Sleep Out Deck offers an unforgettable night beneath the African stars. The camp operates entirely on solar power and was awarded five-star status by the Botswana Tourism Board following a complete refurbishment in 2025. It is also EcoTourism Certified, underscoring its commitment to sustainability without compromising on comfort.

ACTIVITIES
Kanana Camp offers a diverse safari experience shaped by the seasonal ebb and flow of the Okavango Delta. During the drier months, guests explore the area on morning and afternoon game drives in open 4×4 vehicles, with the possibility of night drives revealing nocturnal species such as leopard, civet, genet and owls. This is big cat country, and sightings of lion, leopard, and the elusive African wild dog are often highlights.
As the Delta floods between March and December, the landscape transforms, and water-based activities take centre stage. Guests can glide through narrow channels on guided mokoro excursions or explore further afield by motorboat, discovering remote lagoons and birding hotspots. Fishing, on a catch-and-release basis, is also offered when water levels allow, typically outside of January and February.
Kanana is particularly notable for birding, with its seasonal heronry hosting thousands of nesting birds, including herons, storks, egrets, and spoonbills. Regular sightings of Pel’s fishing owl, African jacanas, kingfishers and saddle-billed storks make it a rewarding destination for novice and expert birders alike.
